One dead, three hurt in Saturday crash in Iowa

A Spirit Lake man is dead as a result of a three-vehicle crash Saturday in Winnebago County, Iowa.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2004 Honda motorcycle operated by David Raak, 21, of Spirit Lake and a 2010 Honda motorcycle operated by Daniel Raak, 64, of Spirit Lake were westbound on Iowa 9 and a 2015 Buick Encore operated by LeRoy Weaver, 95, of Buffalo Center was eastbound. The state patrol said the Buick crossed the center line, side-swiped the motorcycle driven by Daniel Raak and then collided head-on with the motorcycle driven by David Raak, who died in the crash. The crash took place at approximately 4 p.m. Saturday.

Daniel Raak, Weaver and a passenger on David Raak’s motorcycle -- Kayla Hudelson, 21, of Belle Fourche, S.D. -- were all transported by ambulance to Mercy One North Iowa in Mason City.
