The Worthington Area YMCA has named Karri Olmanson as its new chief executive officer, effective Oct. 2.
Selected by the Y’s Board of Directors, following a five-month search, Olmanson will succeed Meredith Daley, who stepped down in April. In her new role, Olmanson will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan, stewarding fundraising effort and positioning the Worthington Area YMCA as a vital partner within the community.
Kylie Turner, chair of the search committee and chair of the Y board, noted, “During our search for a new CEO, we looked at candidates from throughout the country, but Karri stood out among the rest. Her energy, vision and passion for the Worthington Area YMCA is exactly what we were looking for in a leader. With Karri’s experience in YMCA programming and passion towards healthy living, social responsibility and education, we are convinced that the Worthington Area YMCA will have fantastic leadership for years to come."
Commented Olmanson: “Over the past 25 years, I've been fortunate to witness how the YMCA's mission and values positively impact the community it serves by leaving behind a legacy of superior staff and programs which foster Youth Development and Family Engagement. Looking to the future, I’m honored to serve as the next CEO for the Worthington Area YMCA and eagerly await the opportunity to provide positive experiences for all.”
Olmanson comes to the Y with 25 years of experience in the non-profit world. She currently serves at Mankato Family YMCA where she has been Director of Youth Development for the past three years. While there, she has provided leadership to more than 75 staff, created programs, improved community relations and monitored financial operations of the Youth Department. Prior to the Director of Youth Development position, Olmanson worked in various roles within the Mankato Family YMCA including Youth & Family Program Director, Youth Program Coordinator and Fitness Instructor, Program Coordinator, Lifeguard & Building Manager, and K+ Program Teacher and Summer Camp Director.
