Jackson County law enforcement: Criminal suspect has left the area

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office issued an update at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday stating that a wanted individual was no longer in the area.

The sheriff's office on Tuesday had asked residents in the area of 560th Avenue and 890th Street to remain alert following an incident that occurred Monday night and continued into that morning.

A female suspect had been involved in a pursuit involving several neighboring law enforcement agencies. During the pursuit, the suspect drove at extremely high speeds and was ultimately able to evade law enforcement.

On Tuesday morning, the same vehicle involved in the pursuit was located concealed behind a wind turbine in Kimball Township, Section 31. The driver, a 40-year-old female with brown hair, brown eyes, 5-feet 2-inches tall and weighing 135 pounds, was not inside the vehicle.  The female was later seen entering a cornfield wearing all dark clothing and a dark colored backpack.

Law enforcement established a perimeter and conducted an extensive search using K-9s and drones, but she had not been located as of late Tuesday afternoon.

Up until Wednesday morning's update, residents in the area had been asked to: lock their homes and garage doors, even if only stepping outside briefly; lock their vehicles and not leave keys or key fobs inside unattended vehicles; and be alert for anyone walking out of the cornfield or in the surrounding area.

The female was believed to have a history of mental-health concerns.
