High temperatures in Worthington were again warmer than average last month while total precipitation was nearly two inches more than average, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The average high temperature in Worthington in October was 59.9 degrees, or exactly one degree warmer than the average October high of 58.9. The warmest high of the month, 91 degrees, was recorded on both Oct. 1 and 2. Two consecutive days with highs above 80 degrees followed, and after that the warmest high came on Oct. 21 at 72 degrees.
The average low in Worthington in October was 39.3 degrees, or 3 degrees warmer than the average of 36.5. The lowest temperature reading came on the final day of the month, with a reading of 19 degrees Halloween morning.
Worthington received a total of 4.30 inches of precipitation during the month of October, which is 1.92 inches more than the 2.38 inches that's typical. Oct. 13 saw the most precipitation of any day in the month at 1.8 inches, and a total of .69 inches followed the very next day. Ten months into 2023, there has been 22.13 inches of precipitation; the normal total at this juncture of the year is 28.37 inches. That means still we're slightly more than six inches below average in precipitation for the calendar year.
As for temperatures, the average high so far this year has been 58.9; the average low 38.1. By comparison, the average high for a typical first 10 months of the year is 58.4 and the typical low is 37.6.
