Nobles County's NEON group appears to be reorganizing

A collaborative group founded in Nobles County several years ago could be revived, Nobles County Administrator Bruce Heitkamp told county commissioners during their meeting last week.

Commissioner Gene Metz explained that the group was known as NEON, which stands for Nobles Economic Opportunity Network. Its members several years ago had talked fiber for internet at the time as well as other topics.

Metz said that Heitkamp had been speaking recently with Kris Hohensee of FORWARD Worthington and there was some interest in regenerating NEON once again. The tentative plan is to put the program back together and meet quarterly, see what comes up and what the needs of the community are, and then have more of a coordinated effort moving forward with that. Metz said it good to see NEON forming again and expects the first meeting to take place sometime in the latter part of March.
