Nobles County Heritage Center offering free vegetable, flower seeds

The Cultivating Community Seed Library is preparing for the upcoming planting season by offering free vegetable and flower seeds.

People looking for seeds can stop by the seed library at the Nobles County Heritage Center, 225 Ninth St., Worthington, during open business hours, generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The seed library is now in its second year. It will also be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 14, and a short program on starting seeds will be offered by Master Gardener Deb Kroon at 11 a.m.

The Cultivating Community Seed Library will again celebrate Earth Day with a special event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22. There will be several giveaways, including packets of zinnia seeds and gardening gloves, plus a chance to win a number of door prizes. An educational gardening program will be offered at noon. Experts will be on hand to answer gardening questions.
