The general public will need to fund a potential addition to the Nobles County Library in Worthington following action Monday by the Nobles County Board of Commissioners.
In a special joint meeting Monday between commissioners and the Nobles County Library Board, commissioners voted to authorize up to $2 million for renovation of the library. A proposal for an addition, which would have included a new children's library and full basement, will not receive county funding. The estimated cost for the addition was in the neighborhood of $3.5 million.
Koch Hazard Architects of Sioux Falls will now take between four and five months to complete a design for library renovation. Members of the library board as well as employees will have the opportunity to give feedback.
