New Vision Brewster Grain back open after Monday fire

New Vision Brewster Grain re-opened Thursday after being closed Tuesday and Wednesday as a result of a fire.

Christy Riley, marketing and communications specialist with New Vision, said by email that on Monday night, a small smoldering fire was detected within the dryer at the New Vision Brewster Grain location. She added that Brewster Fire and Rescue were called around 7:20 p.m., all the corn was cleared from the dryer. The Worthington Fire Department also arrived on the scene, Riley explained, with additional camera technology to make sure there were no further hotspots throughout the rest of the elevator or pits.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire, said Riley, who noted that the situation was caught early and dealt with quickly. She offered thanks to the “diligent employees who noticed there was an issue and quickly responded,” and also gave “special thanks to the Brewster Fire and Rescue and Worthington Fire Department for their assistance. We appreciate all that you do for our communities.”
