An all-way stop control is scheduled to be installed by Nobles County Public Works starting Monday, April 7, weather permitting, at the intersection of Nobles County 35 (West Oxford Street) and Crailsheim Road.
Work will include adding two stop signs on West Oxford Street, one each for eastbound and westbound traffic. The stop signs are in response to recent crash history and reported safety concerns at the intersection, which is located near Worthington Middle School.
The goal behind the addition of the stop signs is to increase safety for multimodal crossings — such as pedestrians, bicyclists and other traffic -- at the intersection. The all-way stop improvement will be reassessed for its long-term functionality as part of the Nobles County 10 corridor study anticipated to take place later this year
By adding stop signs on Nobles County 35, the existing pedestrian crossing signs/flashers will be removed. These could later be repurposed to new uncontrolled crossing locations identified with the Nobles County 10 corridor study.
The public is encouraged to use caution during installation of the signs and over the next few months as traffic becomes accustomed to the traffic control change.
