Three public hearings are scheduled to take place during tonight’s Worthington City Council meeting.
Two of the public hearings fall under community development business, and both involve approval of tax abatement requests submitted by Dan & Tanya Wagner. One pertains to the construction of a new single-family home on Sterling Avenue, while the other is for construction of a new single-family home at 1111 Sixth Ave. The previous home on the site suffered damages from a house fire and was demolished a couple years ago. The lot has since sold.
The other public hearing scheduled Monday is for required review of the city’s storm water prevention plan. The city of Worthington is a regulated city under phase II of the federal program to reduce pollution from Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), which requires the hearing.
An additional item of business scheduled for Monday’s meeting is consideration of an ordinance to amend Title VII of city code to allow for motorized golf cart operation on city streets with the issuance of a permit. It would be the first of three required readings of the ordinance.
Also Monday, a meeting of the Worthington Economic Development Authority is scheduled for 5 p.m. immediately before council convenes. The EDA is scheduled to consider the sale of property within the Third Addition of Worthington Bio Science Industrial Park. TRA Properties, LLC (New Tec) has offered to acquire two lots in the park from the city through the city’s established land acquisition policy and construct a 26,000-square-foot showroom, sales and repair facility to permanently house the company's local operations. The established asking price for the combined 11.69 acres of land is $280,560, or, $24,000 per acre. The price is based on the city's investment of land acquisition and infrastructure improvements.
