MANKATO -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation continues to closely monitor state highways in south central and the southwest corner of Minnesota due to flooding caused by recent heavy rains.

The left lane on westbound Minnesota 60 from Worthington to north of Heron Lake opened to traffic today, July 1, with a 7-ton weight restriction. The right lane remains closed due to flooding. The eastbound lanes reopened to traffic on June 29, also with a 7-ton weight restriction.

Minnesota 62 in Windom and Minnesota 62 near Cottonwood County 18 west of Windom also opened to traffic today.

MnDOT is working hard to open highways that have been impacted by flooding as soon as it’s safe to do so. We appreciate the public’s patience as we work through this. There are several roads that are still under water, and it will be a slow process to reopen them after the flood waters recede. We also anticipate there may be damage to some of these highways and repairs will be necessary. Highways and bridges impacted by floods need to be inspected for damage and safety prior to opening.

Motorists should check www.511mn.org for current information and follow posted detour routes.
