The Minnesota West Lady Jays bounced back from a first-game loss and took care of host Ridgewater 3-1 in women’s volleyball action Wednesday. Game scores were 23-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-20.

Karli Reiffenberger was another contributor with 28-for-28 serving with four aces and nine digs, and Kat Polzine went 25-of-25 serving with four aces. Lexi Schreurs passed for 43 set assists and chipped in 13 digs.

The Lady Jays play at Century College, ranked sixth in the nation, on Saturday.

In a men’s soccer match earlier this week, Minnesota West improved to 6-3-1 on the season with a 4-3 win over the Dordt University JV in Sioux Center on Monday.

David Castillejos made it 1-0 Minnesota West roughly 15 minutes into the first half. Dordt University tied things up on a penalty kick, but the Bluejays were gifted an own goal with nearly 30 minutes gone by in the first half to make it 2-1. Following a Prince Lebbi goal at 39 minutes, Minnesota West led 3-1 at the break.

Dordt later scored twice to tie the match at three apiece, but Lebbi scored – with an assist credited to goalkeeper Eli Robinson – at the 87-minute mark for the game-winner.

Next up for the Bluejays is a Saturday match at Alexandria Technical & Community College.
