Medical helicopter lands near Rock Rapids; no one injured

No one was hurt when a medical helicopter made an emergency landing Sunday evening just north of Rock Rapids in Lyon County, Iowa.

Authorities say a Life Flight helicopter based out of Fort Dodge, Iowa was headed to Sioux Falls when it apparently collided with a bird, damaging the windshield and a rotor. The pilot was able to safely land the chopper on some grass. 

An earlier report had stated that the helicopter had taken off in Spencer, but it was later determined that it did so in Spirit Lake. The incident took place around 6:19 p.m.
