The King Turkey Day Committee and the Spirit of Worthington Trojan Marching Band hosted area marching bands in a competition with their performance during Saturday’s parade.
Bands competing in the 2022 King Turkey Day Parade included Central Lyon Middle School, Fulda High School and Murray County Central High School. As the host bands, the Worthington Middle School Marching Band and the Spirit of Worthington Trojan Marching Band as the host bands marched for judges’ comments only.
The marching bands are evaluated on music sound, music effect, marching and visual effects for the overall total in scoring. The parade was judged by two regional judges on each of the categories. Results of the marching band competition for King Turkey Day are: Murray County Central, first place with a score of 209; Central Lyon Middle School, second place at 201.5; and Fulda, third place at 168.
Saturday’s parade marked the start of the fall marching season for the Spirit of Worthington Trojan Marching Band. They’ll perform in Luverne on Saturday and Algona, Iowa the following weekend before traveling to Cuero, Texas for Turkeyfest in early October.
