March weather much warmer than normal; conditions remain dry

High temperatures in March were significantly above average in Worthington for the second consecutive month, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant. Precipitation was slightly less than average and continues to lag behind the average year-to-date total.


The average high temperature in Worthington in March was 49.9 degrees, or 10.2 degrees warmer than the average March high of 39.7. the warmest high of the month, 84 degrees, came during the 24-hour period that ended at 7 a.m.

March 22nd. There was also a high of 82 degrees recorded for the 31st.


The average low in Worthington in March was 23.0 degrees, or 1.8 degrees warmer than the average of 21.2. The lowest temperature reading was minus 5 degrees, which came on March 17th. It was minus-2 on the 16th, 18th, and 19th.


As for precipitation, Worthington received 1.3 inches of moisture during the month of March, compared to the normal amount of 1.48 inches. A total of 7.0 inches of snow fell during the month.


For the first three months of the year, Worthington has an average high of 39.0 degrees and average low of 15.3. By comparison, average highs and lows for the first three months of the year are 29.9 and 12.0 degrees, respectively. Worthington has received 1.54 inches of precipitation in January through March, compared to the normal amount of 2.99 inches.
