Man dies in two-vehicle crash in Lyon County, Iowa

One person died and several others were injured in a crash late last week in Lyon County, Iowa.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, a Chevrolet Blazer operated by Stanley Kroese, 90, of Sioux Center, was northbound on Highway 182 when it slowed down to turn into a driveway. A Chevrolet Tahoe operated by Jennifer Simpson, 39, of Rock Valley that was also going north on the highway then rear-ended the Blazer. Both vehicles ended up in a ditch following the collision, which took place at approximately 10:35 a.m. Thursday.

Kroese died from injuries he received in the crash. A passenger, Joan Kroese, 84, of Sioux Center, was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital for her injuries. Simpson, as well as a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old in her vehicle, were also transported to area hospitals.
