Lincoln County farmer Wollum is running for District 21 Senate seat

Krist Wollum, who resides on a family farm outside of Porter in Lincoln County, has announced his candidacy for Minnesota District 21 Senator. He's seeking to fill the seat of Bill Weber, who has announced he will not run for re-election.

A Wollum Senate Intent Letter notes that Wollum represents the fourth generation living and operating his farm and feedlot, where his family farms grain and raises cattle and stock cars.

Wollum noted that he has been actively involved in the community for many years. He served as president of his local Jaycees chapter that helps the youth in the surrounding communities. He has also been involved with the Midwest Cattlemen’s Association, serving on its board of directors and as its president. He is an active member of the Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association and served as its president in 2017 and 2018. He was named Minnesota Cattlemen of the year in 2020, and was nominated to serve as the legislative chair after that.

Wollum added in his letter that he has testified on issues before both the Senate and the House and took part in the state committee on roadside mowing. On the township level, he served as supervisor for 20 years on the Marble Township Board and was part of what he described as the "grass roots side of policy."

Wollum said: "I am running because I believe I can provide leadership that listens. I plan to act with integrity and put constituents first. Like all of you, I care about the future of Senate District 21. I have in mind our families, schools and future generations.

"Senator Weber has done a wonderful job leading this district. If elected, I will continue to implement practical solutions, transparent leadership and common sense for the people of this area."
