The Bureau of Reclamation announced Thursday that the Lewis & Clark Regional Water System (L&C) will receive an additional $10 million in FY24 from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). This is in addition to the $7 million in FY24 BIL funding that was announced for L&C last October, bringing the total amount of BIL funding L&C has received in FY22, FY23 and FY24 to $152.5 million.
“This is fantastic news and we’re extremely pleased!" L&C Executive Director Troy Larson said. A big thanks to our partners at the Bureau of Reclamation for making this additional funding available. It gets us one step closer to the finish line,”
The additional $10 million will go toward construction of the third and final phase of the water treatment plant, which will be constructed and paid for over multiple fiscal years. A contract was awarded to PKG of Fargo on March 28 for Phase 3. The Base System portion of the contract was $85,462,100.
Added Larson: “The Administration has proposed $6.825 million for Lewis & Clark in the FY25 Appropriations Bill. Assuming this is approved, which has been the case the last few years, our engineers estimate we need another $15 million to complete the Base System. We are working closely with our tristate congressional delegation to secure an additional $15 million in FY25.”
