Lady Jays win two more VB matches as Paulson passes 1,000 digs

The Minnesota West Lady Jays won a pair of volleyball matches at home Monday, as they earned 3-0 sweeps over Dakota County Community College and the Dordt University junior varsity as part of a triangular event.  


With the victories, second-ranked Minnesota West improved to 23-3 overall on the season. Also Monday, sophomore Kadyn Paulson achieved a career milestone by reaching the 1,000-dig mark.


Game scores in the Dakota County match were 25-9, 31-29, 25-12. Sadie Krahling had a team-best 14 kills to go along with 12 digs. Kate Slettum contributed a career-high 12 kills; she, Myah Dausel and Aubrey Weedman combined for 27 set assists. Paulson added 11 digs, while Lydia Moore and Aleah Wagner had 10 apiece.


Game scores against the Dordt JV were 25-14, 25-23, 25-19. Krahling had nine kills and Raya Van Beek, Kylee Larsen and Ally Nelson chipped in with seven kills each. Paulson had 22 digs. Slettum had 18 digs, 31 set assists and a pair of blocks.


The Lady Jays will host Riverland at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Catch the action on 104.3 La Voz. Up after that on the schedule for Minnesota West is a Saturday match at Anoka-Ramsey, followed by home matches next Monday against both Iowa Central Community College and the Mount Marty JV.
