Lady Jays still No. 3 in NJCAA in hoops poll; men are unranked

The Minnesota West Lady Jays continue to remain in the No. 3 spot in the NJCAA Division 3 Women's Basketball rankings as an updated poll was released Monday.

Minnesota West, which has a record of 4-2 so far this season, has been at No. 3 for three consecutive weeks. It has been ranked as high as No. 2.

Continuing to hold down the top spot in the rankings is in state-rival Anoka-Ramsey, which has been No. 1 all season and is 6-1 on the year. The Golden Rams collected all eight first-place votes this week.

Another Minnesota school, Northland, is ranked at No. 2 and has a record of 5-1.

In the men's poll, Minnesota West still is on the outside of the top 15 and "also receiving votes" category despite a strong start. The Bluejays began the year by winning their first six games before losing their most recent outing, 79-76, on Nov. 25 at Dakota County Community College.

Five unbeaten teams stand at the top of the men's poll. Mohawk Valley Community College is No. 1 and is followed in order by Salem Community College, Riverland (from Minnesota), UCNJ and Northampton Community College.

Both Minnesota West basketball squads will be back in action on Friday when they play at Central Lakes in Brainerd.
