Iowa Lakes Community College president announces retirement

The Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College has accepted the retirement of President Valerie Newhouse, effective June 30. Newhouse has served as president since 2009.


Board President Janice Lund expressed the board’s thanks for Newhouse’s “significant success in leading the college,” adding that it’s grateful for her longevity of service. Newhouse added that it was “such a humbling and rewarding honor to have served Iowa Lakes Community College as president for 13 years. Iowa Lakes is like home and we are a family. Everything about Iowa Lakes, from our dedication to living our mission, vision, and values to our wonderful students, employees, board, alumni and friends. It truly has been a privilege to be part of this remarkable institution."


A search for her successor will get underway immediately.
