Updated: May 11

A male was still being sought by the Worthington Police Department following a traffic stop that took place early Tuesday afternoon.

The stop was conducted within the city of Worthington at approximately 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from the Worthington Police Department. Two males fled officers in a white U-Haul truck. After a short pursuit, officers terminated the chase due to concerns of danger to the public.

The U-Haul truck was later located unoccupied near Worthington High School, and the WPD recommended the school be placed into lockdown. Officers searched the area and took one male into custody; the second male has yet to be located. The male who remains at large was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, a white or light-colored baseball-style hat and had tattoos covering his left arm.

Students were released at the completion of the school day without incident. People with any information pertaining to the incident are asked to contact the Worthington Police Department at (507) 295-5400.
