I-90 rest area near Jackson to close Monday

The eastbound Interstate 90 Clear Lake Rest Area near Jackson will be closed starting Monday, August 9 for reconstruction of the parking lots and ramps, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The rest area is anticipated to re-open to the public with limited facilities in mid-September, after reconstruction of the oversized vehicle parking lot and ramps are complete. At that time, portable handicap accessible toilets will be available for travelers to use in the oversized vehicle parking lot.

Reconstruction of the passenger vehicle parking lot will begin in early October, with construction anticipated to be complete by mid-November when the rest area will be fully open.

Paving of the westbound Des Moines rest area located west of Jackson is scheduled for 2022.
