I-90 project east of Luverne gets new start time

Due in part to weather, the riprap project on Interstate 90 at Elk Creek east of Luverne has been delayed and is now expected to begin Nov. 16, weather permitting.

Drivers should expect lane and shoulder closures on I-90 as crews install riprap to stabilize slopes, and reduce further erosion, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The area sustained significant flooding and damage in 2024.

Drivers can anticipate lane closures in both directions of I-90 near the creek. MnDOT urges drivers to slow down, watch for workers and equipment, and be alert for trucks hauling materials.
