Housing development event is Wednesday in Jackson

The city of Jackson will host a groundbreaking ceremony for Belmont Heights, a new 40-acre Workforce Housing development in Jackson, at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Belmont Heights is located on the north side of Jackson, off U.S. 71 across from the Jackson Golf Course on Prospect Lane. Representatives from the City of Jackson, Jackson EDA, JEDC, DBS group and local business partners will be on hand for the ceremony.

Jackson Mayor Marcus Polz said in a press release: “The failure to procure market rate housing in the city of Jackson has long plagued us, today that ends. This housing project is a notable example of a private-public partnership and collaborating with local employers to understand their needs. I anticipate the partnerships on this project to be an example of future projects. The economic benefit and added tax base will aid the city of Jackson in being that desirable place to work, live and play.”

Parking will be on Prospect Lane by the Liquor Store.

Belmont Heights will be the latest in a number of recent developments in the Jackson area. Other recent projects include a new Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store, LaCanne Funeral Home, Cabin Coffee, a new location for Subway and single-family spec homes.
