Hagedorn condemns debt ceiling bill

U.S. Rep. Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) on Tuesday criticized what he called “the Democrats’ ‘demon pass’ procedural stunt to raise the national debt ceiling by $480 billion.

Such a maneuver, Hagedorn said, would “grant Democrats time and space to clear their $5.5 trillion tax and spending spree as well as other radical socialist policies.” The measure passed by a vote of 219-206. Added Hagedorn: “With control of the House, the Senate, and the White House, Democrats have the procedural tools and time necessary to raise the debt ceiling without Republican support. If they insist on spending trillions and trillions of dollars more when the country has already amassed nearly $30 trillion in debt, then they shouldn’t expect Republicans to bail them out. “The American people see through their shell games and deception. I voted against the increase because we cannot mortgage our children’s future this way.”
