Filing period for city, school district offices approaching

The filing period for candidates for local government positions begin next week.

 

In Worthington, there will be four positions on the city council up for election or re-election. As for the Worthington Independent School District 518 Board of Education, there are also four seats up for election or re-election.

 

People may begin filing their candidacy for office on July 30; the last day to do so is Aug 13. Seats open on city council are currently occupied by Chad Cummings, Amy Ernst, Chris Kielblock and Dennis Weber, with terms for each slated to end Dec. 31. In District 518, elections will take place for seats now held by Joel Lorenz, Tom Prins, Steve Schnieder and Matt Widboom. Their terms also expire at the end of the year.

 

Individuals interested in seeking a city council seat must file a required form with City Clerk Mindy Eggers at Worthington City Hall. Filings for the District 518 board must be submitted to school district clerk Lisa Ahrenstorff at the district’s administration building.
