Federated Rural Electric will host its 91st Annual Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10, and mark the electric cooperative’s year of “Building for Success.”
The annual meeting will highlight the building remodel, building out the fiber system and continual building of a reliable electricity system. It will take place at the Jackson National Guard Armory. People are asked to park in the fairgrounds parking lot. Federated will have two golf carts to transfer people from the parking area to the Armory.
Meeting registration will be 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and members will be able to enjoy supper from two food trucks, visit different booths and play Bingo to win prizes from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Kids may register for Lego door prizes or magnet tiles if ages 3-10 and pick up a kiddie hard hat. Registered members will pick up a small power bank attendance gift, which can be used to charge cell phones, tablets and other electronics.
Members will also elect two directors for the board and two members to serve on the Nominating Committee with the ballots mailed in August or vote in person before 6:30 p.m. The director candidates running unopposed are Glenn Dicks, Lakefield (District 1) and Troy Post, Brewster (District Two). The Nominating Committee candidates running unopposed are Adam Weets, Jackson (District Three) and Jimmy Amundson, Jackson (District Four).
Members will also vote on a bylaws amendment to allow the Nominating Committee to serve two consecutive four-year terms, instead of going off the Committee after one term; this change aligns with the Operation Round Up Trust Board terms.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Federated will conduct a member forum where members can ask questions and receive answers from the Board President David Meschke, General Manager Scott Reimer or the Federated managers. Attendees may jot their question down on an index card before the meeting starts, which are available at the registration table.
Following the annual meeting, 27 prizes will be awarded to members in attendance with the top three prizes being a 2027 Basin Electric power plant trip for two, a 50” TV and a pedestal electric grill.
