February weather is much drier than normal

Worthington weather in February featured high temperatures slightly warmer than normal, lows colder than what’s typical and very dry conditions, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The normal average high temperature in Worthington in February is 27.3 degrees and the average low is 9.6 degrees, according to National Weather Service statistics. This year, those corresponding numbers are 28.3 degrees and 4.5 degrees, respectively, meaning that February highs were 1 degree warmer than average and the month’s lows 5.1 degrees colder than normal. February’s highest temperature in Worthington was 50 degrees, which was reported on the 21st. There was also a high of 47 degrees reported on the 9th, and a high of 45 degrees on the 28th.

The coldest reading of the month in Worthington was recorded on Feb. 4 at minus-13 degrees. Lows of minus-12 were also recorded on Feb. 3, 23 and 24, and there was a low of minus-10 on Feb. 25.

In terms of precipitation, Worthington had a measured total of just .13 inches of moisture during the month of February. Comparatively, National Weather Service statistics indicate that the average rainfall for the month of February is .82 inches. A total of 2 inches of snow fell during February; that’s 8.9 inches less than the average.

For the first two months of 2022, Worthington’s average high is 25.9 degrees and the average low is 1.2. Historical averages for January and February combined are 24.8 and 7.3 degrees. The total precipitation thus far has been .80 inches; the historical norm is 1.53 degrees.
