Farmers Coop Society partners with city of Sioux Center to increase affordable housing supply

Farmers Coop Society and The How-To Building Center have partnered with the City of Sioux Center, Iowa to provide more affordable housing in that community.

Materials and products such as lumber, windows, paint and appliances as well as design services from The How-To Building Center will be used in the new homes. Farmers Coop Society is partnering with local contractors on the builds.

Excavation began March 21 on the first of two houses to be built this year. Both homes are located in the Country View Heights North development, north of the new Sioux Center High School. They will be more than 1,400 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the main floor with an open concept kitchen and living room. The homes also include a two-stall garage and an unfinished basement with room to add three more bedrooms and another bathroom.

Farmers Coop Society and The How-To Building Center plan to build two homes in Sioux Center this year and have plans for future homes in Sioux Center and other surrounding communities.
