District 518 all-sports eligibility meeting is Aug. 9

All seventh- through 12th-grade students interested in participating in athletics through Worthington Independent School District 518 are required to attend the all-sports eligibility meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 9.


The general meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Worthington High School gym. The Minnesota High School League requires schools to collect all forms and fees before participants are allowed to practice and participate in events.


Fall sports participants will meet with their respective coaches to discuss team information after the general meeting.


All ninth- and 11th-grade students must completye an ImPact Test for concussion during the designated time for their sport. That time is 5:30 p.m. for volleyball, girls tennis and girls soccer; 7 p.m. for winter and spring sports; and 7:30 p.m. for football, boys soccer and cross country.


High school seasons get underway with practice on Aug. 15. Football will be from 8 a.m. to noon at the high school field; boys soccer from 7 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 7;30 p.m. at Prairie Elementary; girls soccer from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Prairie Elementary; volleyball from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the high school gym; cross country from 7:30 to 9 a.m., meeting in the high school lobby; and girls tennis, 8 a.m. to noon at the middle school tennis courts.


Seventh- and eighth-grade sports begin on at different times. Set to start on Aug. 15 are: boys soccer, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Prairie Elementary; girls soccer, 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Prairie Elementary; cross country, 7:30 to 9 a.m., meeting in the high school lobby; and girls tennis, 8 a.m. to noon at the middle school tennis

courts. Set to begin on Aug. 29 are football, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria for equipment pickup; and volleyball, 3 to 5 p.m. in the middle school gym.
