Worthington Independent School District 518 has hired Dakota Lawrence as its new Learning Center principal.
Lawrence comes to the district from Anoka High School and was a math teacher, instructional coach, soccer coach, robotics coach, swim coach and interim assistant principal.
He graduated from Harlem High School in Loves Park, Illinois, and then attended Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown, Wisconsin to graduate with a bachelor's degree in math education. Lawrence then joined the staff at Anoka High School and furthered his education at Saint Mary’s University in Minneapolis to complete his master’s degree in teaching and learning and then the educational administration degree.
While at Anoka High School, he was also was a night school teacher for two years for Anoka–Hennepin’s Regional High School as an administrator for online courses, documentation of students’ credits and work progress, monitoring students’ growth, graduation requirements and testing.
Lawrence will begin his duties in District 518 on July 1.
