The Worthington Cubs had a doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at the Worthington Middle School field. The Cubs lost to Windom 7-3 in the first scheduled game, and no second game was contested as Mountain Lake couldn’t play. The Cubs, who are 3-4 on the season, will next play Wednesday when they host a 7:30 p.m. game against the Luverne Redbirds.
In other amateur baseball action Sunday, it was: Hadley 10, Fairmont 3; Pipestone 3, Heron Lake 1; Lakefield 10, Milroy 0; Milroy 5, Jackson 1; Heron Lake 11, Ruthton 1; and Hadley 11, Fox Lake 6.
Luverne currently leads the Gopher League standings with a record of 4-0. Milroy is 5-2, Hadley is 3-2, Worthington 3-4, and Pipestone and Ruthton are both 1-4.
In the First Nite League, Fairmont leads the way with a 5-1 mark. Jackson is in second place at 4-2 and is followed by Lakefield at 4-3, Windom at 3-3; Heron Lake at 2-4; Fox Lake at 2-5 and Mountain Lake at 1-4.
