Crop-dusting plane crashes near Rushmore, injuring pilot

Law enforcement and emergency personnel responded to the scene of a plane crash in a cornfield Wednesday afternoon near Rushmore.
A press release issued by Nobles County Sheriff Ryan Kruger stated that at approximately 4:58 p.m. Wednesday, Nobles County dispatch received a report of a plane crash in a cornfield near 310th Street and Hesselroth Avenue.
The aircraft involved was a crop-dusting plane operated by a 30-year-old male pilot.
The release said the pilot, who was not identified, was transported to the emergency department at Sanford Worthington Medical Center. The pilot is expected to recover from his injuries. Emergency services assisting at scene included the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office, Rushmore Fire and Rescue, Sanford Worthington Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). No additional information is available at this time regarding the condition of the pilot or factors related to the crash.
