The Rock County Fair gets underway Wednesday at the fairgrounds in Luverne and continues through Saturday.
Among the highlights scheduled for Wednesday are a 4-H Pet Show that begins at 5 p.m., a free community meal from 5:30 p.m. until gone and Celebrity Dairyland Donkey Races that start at 7 p.m.
Thursday is jam-packed with events, including 4-H shows for swine at 8 a.m., goats at 10 a.m., dairy at 11 a.m., the lamb lead/sheep show at 1 p.m., poultry ay 2:30 p.m. and rabbits at 4 p.m. Kids entertainer Phil Baker will perform at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., there will be New Vision safety demos from 1 to 5 p.m. and people may meet Miss Minnesota from 2 to 8 p.m. Fair attendees can build their own kite with the Minnesota Kite Society from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be a Rock/Nobles Cattlemen Beef Feed and a free watermelon feed, both of which begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be music on the patio with the Goodroad Band from 6 to 9 p.m. and Great Plains Tractor Pullers beginning at 6 p.m.
On Friday, it’s Senior Day at the fair. 4-H events include a beef show and cow/calf show at 8 a.m., horses at 9 a.m. and a fashion revue at 4 p.m. Music on the patio with Mogen’s Heroes goes from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., there will be kite-building from 3 to 7 p.m. and a pork meal starts at 5:30 p.m. Music on the patio with Prairie Home Rebellion is from 6 to 9 p.m., Ag Olympics are set for 7 p.m., and the Undercover Band will perform from 9 until midnight.
Saturday highlights include more music on the patio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., the Zooman from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and an Enduro Race at 7 p.m. There will be Midwest Rides Carnival hours on all four days of the fair, and commercial exhibit buildings will also be open each day.
