Council scheduled to award bids for two projects during Monday meeting

The Worthington City Council is scheduled to award a pair of bids during its Monday meeting — one for the South Taxilanes Pavement Project at the Worthington Municipal Airport, and the other for the East Okabena Lake Trail Project.

Bids were opened Wednesday for both projects. For the South Taxilanes Pavement Project, bids received were: Gee Asphalt Systems, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, $118,644.30; American Road Maintenance, a national company headquartered in Tucson, Ariz., $141,516.00; and Fahrner Asphalt Sealers out of Plover, Wis., $152,924.43.

The engineers' estimate for the taxilanes project is $106,638.00. The low bid is 11.26% over the engineers' estimate. The total local share of the complete project, which includes engineering and administration, would be $40,213.30.

Bid results for the East Okabena Lake Trail Project will be made public once the council awards the contract to the lowest responsible bidder. The lowest bid, submitted by Henning Excavating of Adrian, is $1,492,135.45. This bid is approximately 8% lower than the engineer’s estimate.
