Pledges of financial support are being sought to help keep a Nobles County community "#EllsworthStrong" for generations to come.

After a Jan. 15, 2019 fire destroyed Ellsworth's City Hall, a new building has been completed that includes the city clerk's office, the city council chambers, a small community room and a kitchen. That represented the first phase of a two-phase building project.

The second phase of the project is to build a large community center and fitness room. The City of Ellsworth was awarded a state grant in the amount of $1 million to help fund completion of the building. With rising construction costs, the city's Building Committee and Capital Campaign Committee now look to raise $500,000.

People with questions about the project are asked to reach out to Ellsworth Mayor Colette Smythe, City Clerk Dawn Huisman or Capital Committee member Rhonda Groen. The phone number for the city office is (507) 967-2373.
