A pair of engineering-related items are included on the agenda for Monday’s Worthington City Council meeting.
Council members will consider awarding the contract for the mill and overlay project on Lake Street, Sterling Avenue and Industrial Lane. The lowest bid, submitted by Duininck Inc., is $534,327.25. Staff has indicated that since this bid is approximately 20% lower than the engineer’s estimate, it’s considering adding Linda Lane to the project as a change order.
Also scheduled is consideration of the awarding of the contract for the First Avenue Southwest Trail. The lowest bid, submitted by McCuen Construction Inc., is $175,235.
In another matter, the council will consider the adoption of a resolution accepting a $10,000 donation from JBS to the Worthington Police Department as a contribution to cover expenses related to a future drone purchase and related training. Another resolution pertains to the acceptance of a $5,000 donation from Jeanine and Marv Spomer to the Worthington Police Department to benefit public safety programs. The contribution will be utilized as part of a future public safety equipment purchase.
The third and final required reading of a proposed ordinance that allows for motorized golf cart operation on city streets with the issuance of a permit is also on Monday’s agenda. In a related matter, a resolution establishing permit fees for those golf carts is expected to be voted upon. City staff is proposing a one-year permit fee of $25, a two-year permit fee of $35, and a three-year permit fee of $45. The proposed amounts are the same as the current ATV fees.
Monday’s council meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
