Community blood drive set for Sept. 3 in Adrian

Sanford Health Adrian Clinic and Adrian EMS will host a critical community blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 3, as hospitals face an expected increased demand for blood supplies following the Labor Day weekend. The blood drive will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m.

Donors can schedule a donation time by logging onto cbblifeblood.org, selecting “Donate Blood, then Blood Drive Calendar” and Sept. 3. All those who donate blood will receive a $20 McDonald’s gift card as a thank-you gift.

A press release for the event notes that a single blood donation can be separated into multiple components -- red blood cells, plasma, and platelets -– allowing one donor to potentially help save up to three different patients.

People interested in donating blood must be generally healthy, at least 16 years old (with parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds. People must bring a photo ID with them to their donation.
