Students at Prairie Elementary and the Intermediate School are in the midst of taking part in the annual Coins for Cancer.
Students as well as staff are raising money for Children’s Miracle Network in Sioux Falls while they learn about different types of cancer and how they can help others. The two-week event began Feb. 6 with colors and education, and each day of the week included a color and teaching about a different kind of cancer.
This current week is focused on fundraising. Students have been asked to bring in donations while maintaining their dress-up activities. Students have been learning about why they’re raising money, as well as hearing shared stories from Minnesota Miracle Network about kids who are coping with cancer.
The money raised will help families with children battling cancer, assisting them in paying for expenses. Others outside the school are also encouraged to drop off or mail a check to the Intermediate School, which will then be added to the total amount students raised.
Checks may be made out to the Children’s Miracle Network and sent to the Intermediate School at 671 N. Crailsheim Road, Worthington 56187.
