Chris Knoll of St. James has announced his candidacy for Minnesota State Senate in District 21. Incumbent Senator Bill Weber recently announced he will not be seeking re-election and will serve out the remainder of his current term.
Knoll expressed appreciation for Weber’s outstanding leadership and service to the district. He said in a press release that he's seeking the Republican Party endorsement to represent District 21 because he believes rural Minnesota needs a strong, conservative voice at the Capitol.
Knoll currently serves as the CEO of Minnewaska Community Health Services, a faith-based not-for-profit senior care provider in West Central Minnesota. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded from a single rural standalone location to a multi-site senior care provider serving 15 rural counties in the state of Minnesota spanning three rural congressional districts.
Knoll brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership, not-for-profit management and public policy. He has testified at the Capitol and worked directly with lawmakers on issues including not-for-profit sales tax reform, Medicaid reimbursement issues and regulatory burdens impacting rural senior care providers.
Knoll believes his experience, values and skill set make him uniquely qualified to serve District 21. He said in the press release: “Our region deserves representation that protects rural healthcare, strengthens public safety, supports strong schools, defends constitutional rights, and champions agriculture and small business, Throughout my career, I have worked to solve real problems and bring people together. We need more of that in St. Paul, not more mandates and politics.”
