Chamber announces Holiday Lighting Contest winners

The Community Image Committee of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce, along with Worthington Public Utilities and RE/MAX Premier Realty, co-sponsored this year’s Holiday Lighting Contest, and the winners have now been selected.

First prize was awarded to Alan O’Neil, who resides at 219 Lakehill Drive. O’Neil will receive $100 credit on his December utility bill and $100 in Chamber Checks.

Second-place recognition goes to Bernard Strouth, 1941 Cecilee St. He will receive $75 credit on his December utility bill and $75 in Chamber checks. Awarded third place is David Leinen, 603 Ninth St., who earns $50 on his December utility bill and $50 in Chamber checks.

Worthington residents that wanted to be included for consideration in the Holiday Lighting Contest had to have lights up and on by Nov. 29. Members of the Community Image Committee drove around Worthington from Nov. 29 through Dec. 10 to take pictures of the top-decorated homes throughout the community. Criteria for judging included best use of color, most original, best composition, most spectacular or best expression of Christmas.

The photos were then posted on the Chamber’s Facebook page and put to a public vote.
