Bingham Lake residents hurt in Thursday afternoon crash

Two people were hurt, with one suffering life-threatening injuries, in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Windom.


According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2018 Superior semi-trailer operated by Edward Cooper, 59, of Hampton was eastbound on Minnesota 60 and a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville operated by Gerald Norman Just, 79, of Bingham Lake was southbound on U.S. 71 when the two vehicles collided in the intersection. The crash took place in wet conditions and was reported at 1:47 p.m. Thursday.


Just and a passenger, Linda Jane Just, 74, of Bingham Lake, were taken to Windom Area Health, Gerald Just was reported to have received non-life-threatening injuries, while Linda Just was described as having received life-threatening injuries.


The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, Windom Police Department and the Windom Fire Department and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
