In boys basketball Monday, the Trojans traveled to Spirit Lake, Iowa, and mounted a furious second-half comeback before falling short, 76-70.
The Indians led by as many as 17 points early in the third quarter and were still up by 11 heading into the fourth, but back-to-back 3-pointers from Caleb Knothe and Jacari Swinea, followed by a Swinea free throw and another Knothe 3, made a 62-60 game. WHS got back to within two points on three more occasions, but seven points in the final stages of the quarter by Spirit Lake’s Dylan Stecker helped the Indians hang on.
Swinea had 22 points for the Trojans, who are now 1-9 overall, while Jake Brandner added 16 points and Knothe had 15. Tyler Voss had 31 points for Spirit Lake, now 4-10, with Stecker adding 17 and Will Graves 13.
