Annual Tri-State Band Festival is Saturday in Luverne

Twenty-three bands are slated to perform during parade and field competitions when the 72nd annual Tri-State Band Festival takes place Saturday in Luverne.

Parade competition is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Luverne. Seventeen marching bands will perform on the parade route with bleachers available at the McKenzie and Main intersection.


The field competition begins at 12:30 p.m. on the Cardinal Football Field at Luverne Public Schools. Admission to the field competition is with the purchase of a Tri-State Band Festival button. Buttons are $10 and were designed by LHS Junior Ryker Johnson.


Bands from Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa will take part in the festival, which will feature 1,500 marching band students. Participating bands are Adrian-Ellsworth, Marshall, Murray County Central, Pipestone Area, Stewartville, Tracy Area and Worthington in Minnesota; Baltic, Brandon Valley, Garretson, Lennox, Madison Central, Sioux Falls Christian, Sioux Falls Lutheran, Sioux Falls O’Gorman, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Tea Area and West Central in South Dakota; and Boyden-Hull and George-Little Rock in Iowa.
