16-year-old Hartley male dies in Wednesday crash

A Hartley teen has died as the result of a Wednesday crash near Hartley.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2020 Honda Accord operated by a 16-year-old juvenile male was eastbound on 300th Street near Vine Avenue, two miles north of Hartley, when it left the roadway and struck a creek embankment. The incident took place at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver reportedly had not been restrained and suffered a fatal injury. The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources and Hartley Ambulance personnel assisted at the scene.
