Nearly an inch of rain more than usual for the month of the April fell during the last month, according to data compiled at the Worthington Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A total of 4.04 inches of rain was measured at the plant in April, compared to the 3.07 inches typical for the first full month of spring. A total of .81 inches of that precipitation was recorded on April 17, and another .76 inches was measured on the 29th. At least a trace amount of rain was recorded on 16 of April's 30 days this past month.
April high temperatures in Worthington were once again above normal, and low temperatures during the month were also warmer than average.
The average high temperature in Worthington in April was 57.0 degrees, or 1.9 degrees warmer than the average April high of 55.1. The warmest high of the month, 84 degrees, was recorded on the 14th; the next warmest highs were 77 on the 16th and 73 on the 15th.
The average low in Worthington in April was 36.3 degrees, or 3.6 degrees warmer than the normal of 32.7. The coldest temperature reading came at 27, which recorded on April 4. Readings of 29 degrees were recorded on both the 5th and 21st.
For the first four months of 2024, the average high has been 41.6 degrees and the average low 21.9. That compares to typical year-to-date averages of 36.2 and 17.2, respectively. Meanwhile, this year's total precipitation of 6.59 inches is now above the average total of 6.06 inches for this time.
