WPD records several crime categories with lower rates for 2025

The Worthington Police Department is reporting that 2025 was a good year for the city, with the crime rate for many crimes being much lower than 2024.


Statistics compiled by the department include the following:11 criminal sexual conduct reports in 2025, compared to 27 the previous year; 61 threats reported in 2025, compared to 73 in 2024; 25 reports of shoplifting last year, as opposed to 35 in '24; 72 reports of trespassing in '25, compared to 82 the year before; assaults, 40 in 2025 compared to 49 the year before; illegal burning, 17 in 2025 as opposed to 24 in 2024; 200 reports of suspicious activity, compared to 277 the previous year; and 76 reports of burglary, compared to a 2024 total of 125. 


Additionally, the WPD reported that there were 36 fire calls in 2025, compared to 67 the year before.


Totals for traffic stops were up 3.3%, as there were 5,210 in 2025 --- an increase of 165. Driving complaints rose to 89 from 66, and calls reporting junk vehicles increased to 211 from 172.
