Worthington Senior Legion baseball squad rolls past Jackson, 12-2

he Worthington senior American Legion baseball team picked up a six-inning victory on Monday night, topping Jackson 12-2.


Ethan Anderson enjoyed a solid game for Post 5. At the plate, Anderson went 3-for-3 with three singles and also drove in three runs. He also pitched all six innings for Worthington, throwing a total of 75 pitches while allowing two runs on just three hits while recording a pair of strikeouts.


Brayden Raymo contributed a two-run double and an RBI single for Post 5, which collected a total of nine hits. Wyatt Petersen added a two-run triple,  and Christian Dailey had a base hit and two RBIs. Gavin Bell had another Worthington hit; Austin Gruis walked three times.


The victory came before a large Worthington Middle School field crowd that came out for a Worthington Area Youth Baseball Association fundraiser for the Iverson family. The game was also the last home contest for Worthington this summer.


Post 5, which ended a three-game losing skid, is now 4-7 on the season. It will next play a road game against Redwood Falls next Monday and finish off its regular season at Mankato National Legion on July 15.


In Junior Legion baseball Monday, Worthington was defeated by Jackson 6-1. The team will compete in a tournament in Sioux Falls this weekend, and then play at a 15U state tournament July 17-19 in Rochester. Junior Legion playoffs start July 21.
