The Worthington Senior American Legion baseball team will be back in action for a home game Thursday night against Luverne squad. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m. (There will be no Legion game tonight),
Worthington enters its next matchup with a record of 2-2 on the year. The Post 5 team was last in action last Thursday, when it lost a 12-0 home game against Adrian. The guests scored single runs without a hit in both the first and second innings, then scored three unearned runs in the fourth for a 5-0 advantage. Adrian then added two more in the sixth and five more in the seventh to complete the scoring.
Keagan Polzine fired a complete-game four-hitter for Adrian, striking out 16 batters in the process. Max Ostrem had two of the Worthington hits.
After Post 5 plays host to Luverne on Thursday evening, it then travels to a tournament in St. James this coming weekend.

July looks be a fun month at Jackson Motorplex when the speedway finally opens for the racing season.
The year’s first action is now set for Friday, July 12, for the Joel Pingeon Trucking 410 Shootout presented by C & B Operations featuring the Jackson debut of the Midwest Sprint Touring Series 410 sprint cars and the Wyffels Hybrids RaceSaver Sprint Cars presented by Heser Auto & Detailing, the Jackson Motorplex website states.
The Livewire Printing Company 360 Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting was scheduled to start the year during Memorial Day weekend before more than two inches of rain on race day forced track officials to postpone that date to Thursday, July 25.
The Gunderson Racing Inc. MSTS 360 sprint cars will take part that night in the Wieskus Memorial. The feature pays $3,000 to win and there is a $250 Hard Charger Award courtesy of Quick Change Rebuilds as well as bonus money throughout the program in honor of the Wieskus Family. The RaceSavers are in action that night as well.
GRP Motorsports is also offering a $3,000 bonus if a driver can win the 360 main event at Jackson Motorplex as well as at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on July 20.The Jackson Motorplex doubleheader that now happens during the Jackson County Fair concludes on Friday, July 26, with the Merle Johnson Memorial 410 Border Battle presented by New Fashion Pork. The MSTS 410 feature will be $7,000 to win and the RaceSavers will also be back in action.
Meanwhile, at the Worthington Speedway, there was no racing this past Saturday night because of rain. The speedway will host its “Prelude to the Madness,” sponsored by Runnings, this coming Saturday.
